Goalie Luke Molnar and the Neuqua Valley Wildcats sit 2-3-1, looking to get to 500 against Waubonsie Valley on Bryan Grimaldo and the Warrior’s home turf. Sun setting to start the late September match.
First Half
Early in the first half, Neuqua with possession, NV’s Matthew Szimon cues up a long blast, but the shot absorbed by Grimaldo.
Later on, off a free kick, Neuqua tries rushing the net, but Grimaldo again emerges from the twine with the ball. Match scoreless.
Waubonsie’s turn to try and get on the board. Zach Stanley gets off a strong shot, but Molnar dives to his right for the save.
Second Half
Second half, second chance for Stanley. And once again – Molnar rejects the shot, tipping it just wide.
Off a quick restart, Noah Glorioso finds room and eeks one past the goalkeeper for the opening tally
Middle of the second half now, and Neuqua’s Jack Georgi rips a shot – but it curls wide left.
Wildcats in the corner now, looking to center. And it gets through, but the shot attempt goes up, up and away.
20 seconds left, and Mathew Szimon has a chance… but can’t connect. Waubonsie wins the rivalry match 1-nil.
