Friday night lights are back, and Iggy watch is here. Metea Valley’s newest addition, transfer quarterback Javier Amorrortu, is looking to make a big impression against the St. Charles East Saints. This highlight is sponsored by BMO.

The Mustangs score first in the first

After a small delay to start the game, Saints quarterback Cruz Herrera rolls to his right and throws towards the sideline before Charles Larson cuts it off for the interception. The Mustangs stop the threat and get their offense back on the field.

After a long drive, Metea brings in Ryan Lozowski to knock down the 22-yard field goal. The Mustangs are on the board first as they end the first quarter with a 3-0 lead.

On the next Saints possession, Herrera fakes the handoff and then takes a deep shot down the sideline. Tyler Bradley has a defender on his back, but he’s able to reel in the impressive snag. A beautiful throw and catch from Herrera and Bradley puts St. Charles East up 7-3 in the second.

Later in the quarter, the Saints are in the red zone again. Herrera is looking for Bradley again, and this time shows off some nice footwork in the corner of the end zone. Two big-time plays from the dynamic juniors, and St. Charles East goes up 14-3 at halftime.

Rowan Slovik pulls the Saints to victory

Now in the second half, the Saints are working on the goal line. Rowan Slovick takes the handoff and plows right in for the score. The Saints extend their lead to 21-3 midway through the third quarter.

On the next drive, the Mustangs advance past the 50-yard line. Amorrortu rolls to his right and launches the ball downfield, finding Larson for the catch and touchdown! The 46-yard connection makes it a 21-10 game in the third.

Back to the Saints offense, Luca Munaretto takes the swing pass and barrels up the sideline, rumbling all the way inside the five-yard line.

Moments later, Slovick gets the red-zone touch, and he finishes the job. His second score of the night makes it 27-10 as the Saints march through Metea Valley in week one.
