We find ourselves at Neuqua Valley for the Boys Water Polo Sectional Quarterfinals with number 4 seeded Metea Valley facing off against 5th seeded St Charles North.

First Quarter

Just two minutes in and the mustangs are rolling. Jonathan Duval skips the ball into the back of the net to open up scoring 1-0.

But not even a minute later, the stars get on the board thanks to Srbolijub Filipovic who sends a missle past James Cronin, game knotted up at 1.

We know it’ll be a tightly contested battle between 4 and 5, Mustangs are the next to score. Colin Szcesny in front of the net puts the mustangs back in the lead.

Just under 4 minutes to play in the first game tied at 2, St. Charle’s Lukas Kuizenga gets the rebound and puts it in for the stars to take their first lead 3-2.

Second Quarter

We jump to almost the end of the second, St Charles North on a 4-0 run… make that 5 after Kuizenga cleans up another rebound for his second goal, stars leading 6-2 now.

Seconds left until the break, Raphael Kosta passes across to Colin Szcesny to put the mustangs down 3 at the break, 6-3.

Third Quarter

Coming out of halftime and this is where the fun begins. Alex Lafferty gets the first goal of the half, Mustangs trailing by just 2.

Not even a minute later and Tyler Flanders weighs his options before lobbing the ball up and over the North goalie. Mustangs now down just 1.

After the mustangs tied it up, they then took the lead and continued their second half comeback. Lafferty with the lob this time, Mustangs on a 6-0 run, leading 8-6.

Fourth Quarter

1 minute left in the game and the Mustangs are just on a roll now, showing who’s boss. Jamey Hines getting bogged down in front of the goal but he still manages to tip it in, 9-6 now.

Metea Valley not only pulls off the come from behind win but they also managed a second half shut out and a 8-0 run to seal this win as Hines puts the icing on the cake. The Mustang s move on to play Naperville Central.
