Sectional quarterfinal action in boys Lacrosse as 4th seed Benet Academy takes on the 5th seed Wheaton Warrenville South at North Central College.
First Quarter
Scoreless early in the 1st quarter. Kyle Bollman from behind the net stops on a dime, spins and bounces the shot past Thomas Gaita to open up the scoring.
The Tigers respond shortly after Ricky Hoover fires a rocket into the back of the net to even the game at 1.
Second Quarter
Game tied at 2 with 10 seconds to go in the half. Ricky Hoover runs through 4 defenders and scores to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead at halftime.
Third Quarter
The Redwings are trying to get some rhythm in the 2nd half. Kyle Bollman doesn’t see an open lane so he drops the rock off for Kevin Lorenzl. He sends a missile in to the back of the net from 15 yards out to tie the game at 3.
Late in the 3rd Kyle Bollman fights off a pair of defenders, and scores. This game heads to the 4th quarter with 4’s across the scoreboard.
Fourth Quarter
Redwings up 5-4 in the 4th. Casey O’Brien is heavily guarded so he sends a pass across to Josh Taylor. He bounces the shot past Connor Meagher and we have a 5-5 game.
Benet now looks to take the lead back. Kyle Bollman makes a beautiful dodge and hits a wide open Hunter Randolph in front of the net and the Redwings are up 6-5.
Still a 1 goal game late in the 4th and the Redwings look for the dagger. The Tigers play aggressive and leave Alex Panozzo open. He makes the pay and that tally puts this one away. Glenbard West awaits Benet in the lacrosse Sectional Semi Finals.
