Naperville Central hosts conference foe Waubonsie Valley with ace pitcher Halle Arends on the mound which could be a tall task for the warriors at the plate.
First Inning
Top of the first and Arends living up to her potential, striking out Emily Olson looking to end the inning with no on crossing the plate.
Bottom of the first now and a runner at 2nd for the Redhawks. Ellie Laub strikes out Katie Gutsell looking, leaving the runner stranded and going to the 2nd scoreless.
Second Inning
Bottom of the second with a runner at 3rd with one out. Megan Jech grounds out to short, Meanwhile Martina Ruiz makes a beeline for home plate but gets cut down at home by Delaney Summers, still at zeros heading to the third.
Fifth Inning
Top of the fifth now and Arends with a perfect game… until now. Julia Kahl grounds one up the middle and she beats it out for the infield single. But she would be left there at the end of the inning.
Seventh Inning
Top of the 7th now with a runner at first and no outs. Emily Olson singles to right field to get runners at first and 2nd.
Two outs now and Emma Maier hits a rocket to the right side but it’s snagged by Raegan Purl to end the threat and the game heads to extras, scoreless.
Eighth Inning
Bottom of the 8th, Halle Arends helps out her own cause by driving one into the gap in right center field for a lead off double.
waubNext up, Katlyn Allen, who hits a walk off single to right center to bring in Arends who finished with a complete game shut out as Central wins 1-0.
