Blood Donations

As you finish up your last minute shopping – consider giving one last present: the gift of life. Blood donations are typically in higher demand during the holiday season. For more information, you can contact a local blood donation center, such as Vitalant. A single blood donation can potentially save up to three lives.

Illumination

There’s still time to light up your nights at Illumination. The dazzling display shining throughout the Morton Arboretum stays open through January 5. Visitors will take a one-mile paved walking path through interactive lighting effects that put the many features and natural beauty of the Arboretum in their best light. This is the seventh year for the event and tickets are required for entry. More info can be found on the arboretum’s website.

Disabled Hockey World Cup

A local man will be taking the ice to play for Team USA in the inaugural International Disabled Hockey World Cup. Ryan Mueller has been playing with the Chicago Blackhawks Special Hockey team for 12 years. He was one of six members of the program to be selected to skate with the USA team. The World Cup will take place May 11 through 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
