Kroehler Mansion to be Discussed

This Thursday, the Historic Preservation Commission will discuss the potential tear down of the Kroehler Mansion on Little Friends’ property. The nonprofit will present their case to demolish its four buildings, including the historic mansion, to help sell the property and provide them the funds to move to a new site next year. Community members have spoken out about preserving the mansion, which was built in the early 1900s. But, Little Friends argues restoring the mansion is not economically feasible and would impede the sale of the property. The commission will hear Little Friends’ case at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Center.

Doctor Makaziwe Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s daughter, and Anthony Chavez, Cesar Chavez’s grandson, stopped by Metea Valley High School to attend two plays about Mahatma Gandhi, in honor of his 150th birthday. Audience members enjoyed the performances and then were treated to a panel discussion with the two guests.
