City of Naperville Employment

Only about 20 percent of Naperville employees reside in the Naperville. City officials report that of the 955 employees who work in Naperville, only 192 are residents in the town with a population of nearly 148,000. Comparing that statistic to Aurora with more than 202,100 people, the city has about 39 percent of its employees living there, at 370 of 953. Naperville city officials say their goal is to attract the best candidates for the job, with the only person required to live in Naperville being the city manager.

Fifth Safest Community

Naperville has racked up another notable ranking. SmartAsset.com rates Naperville as the fifth safest community in America. The report was made using crime rates, traffic death rates, air quality, and many other data to factor in the final rankings. Last year, Naperville received the number three spot on this list, but fell to number five because of poor air and fairly high rates of excessive drinking according to the report. While Niche.com, gave Naperville the number one spot for last year’s safest city in the nation.

Local Winter Classic

In a rematch of the Carillon Cup Championship back in November, Naperville Central and the Warriors Hockey Club faced off in the Winter Classic at the Bobby Hull outdoor ice arena last night. The second period saw the offense take center stage as the Warriors scored twice to take a two-goal lead. Just before the end of the period, the RedHawks lit the lamp to pull within two. The Warriors were able to tack on one more in the third for a 4-1 victory to close out the 2019 Winter Classic.
