North Central MLK Breakfast
Today, U.S. Representative Lauren Underwood gave the keynote address at North Central College’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast. She reflected on King’s inspirational words on faith and courage, how they inspire her, and the work she’s done as part of the 116th U.S. Congress. Her speech was followed by a prayer led by North Central’s chaplain, Reverend Eric Doolittle.
Naperville Township Roads
Once again, residents of Naperville Township will vote on the management of government that maintains its 15 miles of roads. In the 2017 April election, voters approved of consolidating the Naperville and Lisle townships highway departments into one, effective May 2021. Ts April, voters will be asked if they want to follow a state law allowing townships to dissolve their road districts, eliminate the position of highway commissioner, and absorb the responsibilities into the rest of township government. If approved, there would no longer be a Naperville Township Road District, and thus make it impossible to merge it with the Lisle Township Road District as required by the 2017 vote. The Naperville Township is holding the first of three information sessions on the issue on January 30 at 7 p.m. at the municipal center.
Super Blood Wolf Moon
The first total lunar eclipse of 2019 has ended. The super blood wolf moon was at full eclipse starting around 11 p.m. last night. The name for the ‘wolf moon’ comes from the old farmer’s almanac, and was inspired by hungry wolves that howled from winter hunger in January. The next total lunar eclipse will be visible in the U.S. in 2022.
Daniel Tiger Exhibit
Daniel Tiger is now a part of the DuPage Children’s Museum. The interactive exhibit features all the characters from the award-winning PBS Kids series, “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.” Kids can head to the clock tower, send some mail at the post office, dress up as their favorites, and read a book in the reading nest. The exhibit will run until May 12.
