Restaurant in Old Nichols

A restaurant planned for the site of the Old Nichols Library is close to getting its lease for the property. That’s what city officials said at a recent Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce meeting. Rumors of a restaurant coming to the location have been floating around for months and construction on the new portion of the site is planned to begin in the spring.

 

Christkindlmarket Review

Naper Settlement announced final numbers for Christkindlmarket Naperville. In its third year, the market welcomed 236,000 visitors, fewer than the 245,000 who attended in 2017. The market will return this coming December.

 

Special Guests at State of the Union

Two Naperville residents will be attending the State of the Union tomorrow night as special guests of local U.S. Congressional representatives. Allie Bland is a seven-year-old Napervillian who was invited by Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, who noticed Bland had been making notes and drawings for victims of domestic violence. And Representative Sean Casten will be bringing Judie Caribeaux, executive director for Family Shelter Service.

 

D203 T-Shirt Raising Funds

Today is the last day to order a t-shirt hailing District 203’s Dan Bridges as a hero. A Naperville Central student created the shirts honoring the superintendent who has canceled school due to weather four times this school year. All proceeds raised from the $16 t-shirt will be donated to the Naperville Education Foundation. All orders must be placed by midnight tonight.

 

Hockey All-State

The All-State Boys Hockey team was released over the weekend and three of our local players were honored with a selection. Neuqua Valley goaltender Jack Blanchard was one of three goalies named to the All-State White team. Benet Academy senior Will Sammons was named a forward on the All-State White team. While Warriors Hockey Club senior Zach Pearce is one of the forwards on the All-State Red team. It’s the second straight All-State selection for Pearce.
