Mayoral Candidate Forum

Last night, the two Naperville mayoral candidates attended a forum put on by the League of Women Voter’s Naperville and the American Association of University Women. The discussion included some heated moments between incumbent Steve Chirico and challenger Rocky Caylor. The moderator had to remind the candidates not to interrupt the other’s answers to rebut. D204 Teachers

At yesterday’s District 204 meeting, school board members discussed the teacher shortage. The Grow Your Own program spoke to the board, saying they aim to recruit local residents and help them become teachers. District 204 Board President Mike Raczak said the board needs to from a committee to be recruit future educators.

 

Remembering Col. Morgenthaler

And finally, we are sad to report the death of Col. Jill Morgenthaler, who passed away unexpectedly on February 23. Morgenthaler was a Bronze Star and Legion of Merit recipient was a trailblazer for women in the military. She was the first female commander of several Army groups, including Homeland Security for the State of Illinois. Morgenthaler was an active speaker in TEDxNaperville, who last took the stage in November to discuss disruptive leadership. Morgenthaler was 64 years old.

 

Regional Basketball Preview

Waubonsie Valley Boys Basketball is the last team still standing in the sectional round of playoffs from our area. After winning regionals for the first time in over a decade, the Warriors move on to face Oswego East in the sectional semifinals tonight at East Aurora. The Warriors hold the two-seed while the Wolves are the three seed. The winner advances to the sectional final game on Friday night against either Bolingbrook or West Aurora.
