Celebrate Responsibly:
St. Patrick’s Day weekend is almost upon us, and the Naperville Police Department is reminding everyone to celebrate responsibly. As part of the “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns, officers will be out in special patrols over the weekend to ensure that folks are wearing seatbelts, and to arrest impaired drivers. They remind those celebrating to designate a sober driver ahead of time or plan to use a cab or ride-sharing service if you’ll be drinking. As for those hosting parties, remember you can be held liable if someone you serve leaves, and gets in an impaired driving crash. Pedestrians should also take extra care and stay alert.
Focus 203:
Last night the focus was on unique programming and services at District 203’s latest Focus 203 community engagement session. Presenters discussed the five special services the district offers for students, whether through the dual language program or early childhood education. Parents, students, and community members in attendance then got to work on a group activity to chat about what areas of the unique programming need work.
Stress Less for the Test:
As part of their Mindfulness Matter campaign, last night KidsMatter hosted the educational seminar, Stress Less for the Test at Metea Valley High School. Tom Klisiewicz, founder and president of Smart Health Wellness and Performance, gave a presentation to parents and students on how stress is caused and techniques to reduce it before an exam. Those include controlled breathing, meditation and exercise. The crowd did some practice exercises to test them out. There’s another two-hour presentation March 19 at Waubonsie Valley High School at 7pm.
New Condos Selling Fast:
30 percent of the luxury condos planned for the new development surrounding the old Nichols Library already have buyers. The Central Park Place units, which range from 2,000 to more than 3,500 square feet, go for an asking price close to and over $1 million. There are 17 total in the residential/commercial building, construction on which will begin this spring.
