Standard Market in Naperville Closing:

It’s the end of the line for Standard Market Naperville. The grocery store announced they’d be closing up their Naperville location on Aurora Avenue after five years of operation. A post on their website cited “business conditions” at that location as the reason for the closure. Starting today, they’re offering customers 30 percent off their purchases, with the exception of alcohol, gift cards and items from the CUBE or the Standard Market Grill. The store closes on Friday.

Changes at The Craftsman:

Changes are coming to The Craftsman in downtown Naperville. The business is revamping their first two floors, as it morphs into the Two Brothers Barrel House. The new focus of the space will become their line of spirits, beer and food. The third floor will remain as is. Two Brothers Barrel House will be opening in mid-April.

Seasonal Burns:

The Naperville Park District has begun conducting seasonal controlled burns at select parks. The burns are done to help native plants regrow and to improve the habitat for the spring and summer, while also killing off non-native and invasive species. Weather conditions and wind velocity affect when sites will be burned, either in the spring or the fall.

Burglary Prevention Forums:

The Naperville Police Department hosted two burglary prevention forums yesterday as a part of its “A Safer Naper” campaign. Easy tips for residents to deter burglars from targeting their house include keeping your doors and windows visible from the street, avoiding social media posts about going on vacation, and installing a video doorbell. Police also announced a new partnership with Ring, a video doorbell company. That will allow NPD officers to request access to videos from residents, making it easier to identify burglars.
