Ivan Kosalko travelled over four thousand miles to Naperville, Illinois from Nitra, Slovakia. The visit comes in celebration of the 25 years of partnership between Nitra and Naperville as Sister Cities.
Ivan made stops at North Central College, Metea Valley High School, and other schools and organizations to enhance the outreach and collaboration between the two cities.
“Let’s be honest, not everybody knows where Slovakia is, and the same in Slovakia, not everybody knows where Illinois or Nebraska is so we need to do something to get to learn, get to know ourselves better,” said Kosalko, a member of the Sister City Commission for Nitra, Slovakia.
Ivan spoke about Slovakia history as a once communist country, and the culture, economy, and modern day advances Slovakia has made. He also answered questions from the audience at each presentation.
“Meeting cultures always enhances the horizon of how people understand the world,” added Kosalko.
