First Meeting of the SECA Commission in 2017

Applicants for SECA funding had a chance to make their case at the commission’s first meeting of the year. 

SECA, or the Special Events and Cultural Amenities program, is a fund set up by the City of Naperville to support nonprofit organizations hosting social, artistic, and cultural events in town.

The commission has $1.1 million available for distribution this year.

Applicants for funding had three minutes each to tell the commission why they needed funding and what they would use it for, and answered any questions the commissioners may have had.

Requests were as high as $388,000.

The commission has two workshops planned. The first of which will be held on February 1 at 6 p.m. in the Electric Service Center on Aurora Avenue.
