KidsMatter is rolling out some programming to help kids handle stress.

On September 10 they released a video containing the results of their “State of Our Kids” survey, and will have educational videos about stress management to follow.

They’re advertising the Crisis Text Line in places that teens frequent, like schools and libraries, to make the resource more available for kids who need it.

And Executive Director Kamala Martinez says she’d like more teens to talk to each other about what’s stressing them out.

Over 50 percent of those surveyed say they do not regularly talk to others about what’s stressing them, even though many teens face the same issues, like pressure to succeed in the classroom.

“When they do talk about it, they talk to their parents and their friends,” said Martinez. “But we really need these kids to talk be able to talk about it and realize they look and feel like everyone else sitting in their classroom and they’re all experiencing the same thing.”

KidsMatter is also rolling out four forums meant to help parents and teens handle stressful things like family conflict.
