Mesón Sabika was serving up good food for a good cause.
The restaurant donated 100 percent of its sales on July 16 to the American Red Cross, in an effort to support those recently affected by floodings in the U.S. And the volcanoes in Hawaii and Guatemala.
The one-day fundraiser raised $13,000 for the American Red Cross.
“I believe if one can afford to give they should. The most important thing out of this is also to raise awareness. Life is not like Naperville everywhere. Unfortunately news is all about different kind of politics, for lack of a better word, and less about the needs of people around the world or in the U.S. So I try to do my share of being a good American which is what America is all about,” said Owner and President of Mesón Sabika Hossein Jamali.
Jamali says another fundraiser is in the works to hopefully go toward the wounded warrior project, a nonprofit that provides veterans services.
Mesón Sabika has donated almost $1 million to dozens of charitable and humanitarian organizations over the past 28 years.
