After 16 years the Naperville Wine Festival has been cancelled.
“Kemperlesnik has rented Naper Settlement’s grounds for the last few years for the Naperville Wine Festival and has decided to no longer producer any wine festivals in any market in 2019,” said Abbey Bobzin, the public relations coordinator at Naper Settlement.
The festival was to be held at the settlement this August. They’d been host to the event for its first eight years, until it was moved to CityGate. The festival then returned to the settlement in 2017.
This news comes just one month after the announcement that Christkindlmarket, which had also been held on the museum grounds, would not be returning this year.
Naper Settlement’s New Event
However, the settlement will replace the popular German festival with a new event, tentatively called Yuletide Festival and Fair.
Though still in the planning stages, the event hopes to be a multi-cultural gathering for community members. Early ideas for the festival include a possible concert, cultural celebrations, and family-friendly activities.
“We’d hope to have that festival return year after year and in so we can grow it. So we can be absolutely a place for all of our community to gather,” said Naper Settlement’s CEO and President Macarena Tamayo-Calabrese. “Irrespective if you celebrate one holiday or five holidays we want to be sure that this is an interesting place and it’s a place where you’ll want to gather with your family to make life long memories.”
Other Activities From Naper Settlement’s Yuletide Festival and Fair
Additional activities could include arts and crafts markets, tree and menorah lightings, and food and drinks from local restaurants and breweries.
