Naperville Police Aim to Help Victims

The Naperville Police Department is trying to connect victims with resources.

The police hosted a victim services information fair, in partnership with the FBI. Taking place at Wentz Concert Hall on the campus of North Central College, the event featured dozens of booths for organizations that help with domestic violence, fraud and many other crimes.

“Police obviously are on the front end of taking the crime reports, investigating the crimes, many times solving the crimes, but then our victims are left with a void,” said Louis Cammiso, commander with the Naperville Police Department. “And we host this to try and fill that void and provide services, or at least we’re not providing the services but we’re connecting them with services that they could utilize.”

While this was the first event of its kind hosted by the police, it will not be the last. The police hope to continue to help connect victims with the resources they need.

April 2 to 8, 2017 was also National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
