The City of Naperville needs your feedback for a project that will brighten up the town.
They’re asking the public to weigh in on new light emitting diode, or LED fixtures, being considered for purchase as part of an upgrade to the city’s streetlights.
It’s part of a project that’s been underway since 2014. Phases one and two saw the replacement of about 1,600 streetlights and over 7,000 residential lights.
Phase three will take on the replacement of nearly 3,000 decorative and location-specific streetlight fixtures around town. Samples of the four proposed LED light fixtures are labeled and in place at three different locations: Jefferson Street between Main and Washington, Chicago Avenue between Brainard and Sleight, and Brainard Street north of Ogden Avenue.
After checking out the lights, the public can share their opinions through an online survey; then those results along with the performance of the test fixtures will be taken into account when choosing the permanent replacements.
The survey can be found on the city’s website, and is open through August 6.
