DuPage County has a new plan to increase tourism.
Recently the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau, or DCVB, presented the New Strategic Plan for Tourism to the DuPage County Board.
In celebration of the upcoming National Travel and Tourism Week from May 7 through 13, the new strategic plan is called “GPS – A Tourism Roadmap”, and will grow, prosper, and share our community.
The plan will aim to do just that, by highlighting programs and institutions that stand out in DuPage and further promote it as a top destination.
“One thing we’re going to really start immediately is create a product development committee to help really foster cooperation across the entire county,” said Executive Director of the DCVB, Beth Marchetti. “Second thing is to make sure that we’re competitive from a marketing standpoint to link all of our products that we have, like our forest preserve districts, our bike trails, the wonderful science and higher education things that we have in our area. And the third is just to really package and promote more effectively so that the visitor understands what we are as a community.”
DuPage County is home to the second largest tourism industry in the state, worth $2.5 billion.
