Pfeiffer Hall is turning green! An Ogre.. Along side Three Bears… an Ugly Duckling… Pinocchio and many others hit the main stage at North Central College for their summer production of Shrek The Musical led by Shrek himself… played by Brad Morrison.
Morrison has been doing shows with this program for a long time, “I started doing the summer shows in 2012, so sic years ago, and this is my eleventh musical at NCC.”
Alongside him… the Princess Fiona, played by Maddie Barbeau, who has also been involved since “once upon a time…” starting when she was just 7 years old. But becoming the princess Ogre doesn’t happen over night like it does in the movie… Barbeau explains, “They have to turn me green! They stuff me, theres gloves, a lot of make-up and it all happens in like 30 seconds to a minute, I think I have!”
The crew has been practicing since the middle of June but truly are believers in what this musical is about explains Barbeau, “I think what’s awesome about musicals is you get to see more in the muscal, see what they were feeling. It’s got some deep stuff going on.”
Morrison adds to that thought when he says, “At the end of the day, we are all here because we want to put on a great show.
Donkey, the gingerbread cookie, and maybe even a dragon are all ready to present a show that ends in happily ever after. Tickets can be purchased here.
