A program at District 204 is helping every girl shine regardless of their financial situation.
The Valley Runway was created a year ago in order to help girls who can’t afford a prom dress to get one.
By collecting donations of gently used prom, homecoming and formal dresses, The Valley Runway is able to provide girls with everything they need for their special dance at no cost to them.
“These events are so expensive and we just thought it would be a great way to support young ladies, and make sure that this memorable time in their lives would be the best that it could be,” said Jennifer Rowe, Dean of Students at Metea Valley High School.
Last year about 500 dresses were donated and they expect a similar amount to come in this year.
The Valley Runway also helps young men rent tuxedos and is looking to expand that program as well.
