Honor Flights give the trip of a lifetime for veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and starting this year, to those who served in the Vietnam War.

“There are a lot of Vietnam veterans across the country. And a lot of them have struggled over the years since they got back from Vietnam with health issues. And it’s time to render them honors to go see their wall in Washington D.C. and to see a lot of other memorials. That’s the nice thing about Honor Flight Chicago, the plan is really unbelievable,” explained Wayne Fischer with American Legion Post 43 and the DuPage Veterans Foundation.

To date, Honor Flight Chicago has flown over 8,000 vets to Washington D.C. free of charge for an unforgettable day of seeing our nations most notable war memorials.

Vets are selected to fly based on the chronology of those wars, satisfying medical requirements for travel, and the date of applying.

Applications for Honor Flights can be done on Honor Flight Chicago’s website.
