The last of five Naperville Park District playground renovations are complete.
With the snip of the scissors, kids were ready to take the updated Yorkshire Manor Park for quite the spin.
“One unique feature is a brand new from the manufacturer, it’s called a gravity rail. So it’s a zip line that does a full circle and there’s a ramped platform from each side so you can start or finish at either end,” explained Project Manager Jessica Burgforf.
While the zip line was the most popular new addition to the playground for older kids, those under five years old had fun in the new playhouse, which was complete with a xylophone, drums, and a ball spinner.
And as this summer’s park renovations come to an end, the park district is already looking into the updates for next year.
“Based on the fifteen year lifecycle and inspections by our trade staff, we have three playgrounds that are going to be on schedule for 2019. It’s Heatherstone Park, Three Meadows Park, and the Riverwalk Park,” added Burgdorf.
Residents who’d like to give feedback on next year’s playground updates can stop by the park district’s 2019 capital improvement projects open house on July 26.
The Naperville Park District is also looking to switch from in-person playground open houses over to a digital system so residents can send in their input from home.
