The Naperville Invitational rolls along as Benet Academy faces Naperville North after both teams fell in the quarterfinals the night before. The Huskies lost 1-0 to New Trier while the Redwings were defeated by St. Charles North 2 to 1.
First Half
First five minutes and Naperville North with a corner kick opportunity, Leah Schumate with the boot, Reilly Riggs gets a piece of it but Evangeline Frantzen tracks it off the bounce for the save.
Midway through the first half, Leah Schumate with a free kick towards the middle, Maddie Schlecht with the header on the run is just wide to the left to keep the game scoreless.
One of the leading goal scorers for the Huskies looks to get her team on the board as Hannah Martin makes the turn and fires, but her shot is wide left as well.
Under ten to go in the first half, best chance for Benet so far as Mae Tully puts up a shot, Emily Magee and Paige Sylvester get their heads on the ball, trying to clear but Sarah Bozych is in the perfect spot to tap the ball into the corner of the net. Redwings take a 1-0 lead.
Second Half
To the second half and BA on the attack again Abby Casmere with a good look that bounces over the outstretched arm of Amanda Johnson, but it stays wide to keep the lead at one.
Under 6 minutes to go in the game, Katie Murphy with a nice find to Maddie Schlecht who makes a move and sends a shot on net, Evangeline Frantzen gets a piece but the ball finds the net and this game is all tied up at one apiece.
One minute to play in the game, Leah Shumate with the corner, Reilly Riggs with the header, the ball then finds Riggs again, but her quick shot sails just over the crossbar and out of play. The hard fought contest ends in a 1-1 tie.
