Naperville North returns home to good old All Seasons for the 2nd round of the Blackhawk Cup. They play host to Evanston Township out of the North Central Conference.
Scoreless 10 minutes into this one. Gabriel Rodriguez wins a board battle for the puck and hits Campbell Wagener. He sends it past the pad of Kevin Braner as the Wildkits take a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period.
Early in the 2nd Gavin Klaisle hustles to a loose puck creating a breakaway, but Owen Destefano stuffs the backhander to preserve the lead.
The Wildkits look to extend the lead a few minutes later. Jens Bratt centers one for James Greco, but Kevin Braner with the sick bad save to keep the deficit at 1 heading to the 3rd period.
A few minutes into the 3rd period, the Huskies get a golden opportunity as they head in on a 2 on 1 break. Tyler Zuspann to Gavin Klaisle, but once again Destefano is there for the save.
2 minutes later the Wildkits get some insurance. James Greco wins a board battle and centers to a cutting Gavin Hansen. He goes glove side on Braner to put Evanston up 2-0.
Desperation time for the Huskies, but the Wildkits get on a fast break. Andrew Cousineau centers for Joseph Levy and he goes to the backhand for the dagger. Evanston adds one more late and they will move on to take on OPRF in the 3rd round.
