Girls Lacrosse Sectional Semi Finals. The Valley is coming off a big win over Naperville Central as they take on the 2 seed Naperville North, who is looking for revenge after losing both regular season meetings.
First Half
The Valley is up 1-0 early in the 1st half. Audrey Ehrler goes right by a pair of defenders and fires the shot past Catie Sciabica to put the Waubonsie Metea co-op up by 2.
After cutting into the deficit the Huskies win the ensuing faceoff. Kate Burritt sprints down the field going by a couple defenders and sending the shot into the back of the net to even the game at 2.
Off a restart Mary Tuskey bounces the shot past Alexandra Collins to give the Huskies a 3-2 lead.
Now down by 2, Audra Thompson takes the ball off a restart and goes top shelf on Sciabica.
Still down by a goal, Audrey Ehrler with the ball in transition. She goes right through the teeth of the defense and scores to tie the game at 4.
Game tied at 5 with just over a minute to go in the half. Ragan Kueltzo doges by a defender, then splits a pair and scores. The game ends up with 6’s across the scoreboard at the break.
Second Half
The Huskies come out on fire to start the 2nd half. Anneliese Hanson finds a cutting Kate Burritt in front of the net for her 4th goal of the game to put the Huskies on top 8-6.
Off a restart Mary Tuskey blows right by a triangle of defender and puts the rock into the back of the net.
After finishing 4th at state a year ago, the Huskies weren’t ready for their season to end early. Kate Burritt finds the back of the net for the 5th time in the game. Naperville North defeats The Valley 11-9 to move on to the Sectional Title Game in Girls Lacrosse against Neuqua Valley.
