This year, BrightSide Theatre is celebrating its 15th anniversary, with programming that started in 2011! BrightSide Theatre, Naperville’s only professional non-profit theatre company, has a mission to enlighten, educate, and entertain through comedies and inspirational stories from across the globe. Presenting a unique blend of award-winners, premieres, modern works, and timeless classics, their productions are meant to inform the community and provide opportunities for reflection.
They were recently honored with Naperville Magazine’s award for “Best Entertainment Venue” for the seventh year in a row!
The 15th season at BrightSide Theatre
BST’s annual season includes three full-scale mainstage productions, a musical theatre concert series, and, since 2020, a free Summer in the Parks Series. In addition to their mainstage season, BST is committed to fostering the growth of young artists ages 6-18 through our year-round BST Youth Project education programs, offering summer camps, a fall and spring musical, masterclasses, and private vocal training.
The first show being performed for the 15th season will be “The Addams Family Musical.” Based on the beloved characters created by Charles Addams, this musical follows Wednesday Addams as she falls in love with a perfectly respectable young man from a very normal family. When the two families meet for dinner, secrets are revealed, expectations are challenged, and hilarity ensues.
The rest of the season includes “The Secret Garden in Concert”, “Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes’ Mystery” and “Avenue Q.” The Youth Project will perform “Trolls, Jr.” and “How to Train Your Dragon, Jr.”
BrightSide Theatre Youth Project
The BrightSide Theatre Youth Project was developed to provide a professional and educational learning experience for grade school to high school students interested in exploring musical theater. In this program, children work directly with professional directors, musical directors, choreographers, designers, and artists to develop their own theatrical skills.
