Naperville community survey findings provide mixed results

Results from this spring’s community survey were discussed at Tuesday’s Naperville City Council meeting.

Outside firm Polco conducted the survey on the city’s behalf, and reported high satisfaction in such areas as public safety, and lower scores in affordability.

Interactive “Tree Dimensions” installation coming to Morton Arboretum this spring

A new interactive exhibit called “Tree Dimensions” is coming to the Morton Arboretum this spring.

It will feature five sculptures, ranging between 11 and 20 feet in height, inspired by the shapes and textures of trees.

Fry Family YMCA announces Ray McGury as its new executive director

The Fry Family YMCA announced Wednesday that Ray McGury has been chosen as its new executive director.

McGury brings a background of leadership, having served as the executive director of the Naperville Park District for more than 13 years and as the former chief of police for the Village of Bolingbrook. 

His first day in the role will be Monday, Aug. 24.

Second mural takes shape in Naperville’s Block 59

A second large-scale mural has been added to Naperville’s Block 59, this time, on the south side of Five Below.

The artwork was designed by Lake Zurich artist and graphic designer Alyssa Low. 

Take a look at the mural, which drew inspiration from some Naperville landmarks.

IPSD 204 students place second at International First LEGO contest

Six students from Indian Prairie School District 204 recently earned second place at an international First LEGO League competition.

Recently graduated eighth-graders from Granger Middle School, who competed along with one younger student as “Team Timeless,” qualified for the finals by beating 510 other teams from Illinois. The team also received the Champion’s Finalist Award.

Team members include Girivarshan Annamalai, Jaivarshan Annamalai, Adhrit Chavali, Aditya Kovvuri and Ananya Kovvuri, as well as Young Elementary fourth-grader Siddharth Chavali.
