Naperville man accused of threatening 2 people with machete

A Naperville man has been accused of threatening two people with a machete, trying to use it to break a door of a room they’d run into, then barricading himself in his apartment for hours.

Daniel O’Neill, 35, faces multiple charges after the incident, which Naperville police say happened Wednesday afternoon.

Naperville citywide brush collection for storm debris starts Aug. 17

The city of Naperville will have a special citywide brush collection starting Monday, Aug. 17, in response to damage from Tuesday’s storms.

Groot will collect bagged and bundled waste, and Public Works crews will pick up loose debris.

Resources available for Will County residents following storms

The Will County Emergency Management Agency is offering resources for county residents who experienced damage and power outages following Tuesday’s storms.

Will County’s 2-1-1 hotline is available to connect residents to tree removal services, emergency shelter, disaster recovery and cleanup resources, and food and basic needs, in addition to other storm-related needs.

There are two events in University Park for those needing additional resources. Loaves & Fishes Community Services will host a drive-up food giveaway on August 15 from noon to 3 p.m at Faith Movers Church. A Multi-Agency Resource Center will open August 17 at the Village of University Park Town Center, hosting local agencies for recovery resources.

Emergency wall repair underway at Welch Elementary in IPSD 204

Indian Prairie School District 204 board members have authorized emergency repairs to Welch Elementary after officials discovered a “wall deficiency” there in the two-story south section of the building.

Naperville North senior clap-in kicks off D203 school year

Naperville North High School seniors were greeted with a loud welcome on Thursday for their last first day in Naperville School District 203.

The upperclassmen were treated to a sunrise breakfast and clap-in from their peers.

Annual Raksha Bandhan celebration thanks Naperville first responders

Volunteers from Naperville-Aurora Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh honored first responders with a tradition from the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan on Monday, Aug. 10.

Middle and high school HSS volunteers and their families attended to tie rakhi bracelets onto the wrists of first responders and thank them.
