The Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a 285-unit apartment building with a roof-level event center to be built at CityGate Centre.
About the Project
“The residential component will create a synergy between the existing offices as well as the hotel, as well as supporting the service/retail. The event center will bring an additional 38,500 square feet of new programming space to considerably enhance the operations of Hotel Arista,” explained Vince Rosanova from Rosanova & Whitaker who is representing CityGate Centre Ventures.
The empty five acres on the northeast corner of Westings Avenue and CityGate Lane will become a five story, multi-family complex. It will include an enclosed pedestrian walkway to connect to the CityGate Centre buildings to the north such as Hotel Arista and Che Figata.
The project was designed by Callison RTKL, and will be owned and operated by Lincoln Property Company.
The Commission’s Response
“One comment which is I think it’s a beautiful project,” said Commission Chair Bruce Hanson. “I can tell you’ve been working on it for a long time. It’s stunning. It’d be something I’d definitely be excited to see.”
That cohesive design led the commission to send a unanimous positive recommendation to Naperville City Council.
This project comes as CityGate Centre North – an event center and ice arena – was approved last year and should be complete by Fall 2020.
