Nike Sports Complex site improvements
Naperville Park District officials are in the early steps towards site improvement work at the Nike Sports Complex, 288 W. Diehl Road.
During a recent park board meeting, staff said they’re preparing to issue a professional services contract. The work would bring together landscape architects, engineers, and, as needed, other consultants to help plan the improvements.
Details on the full scope of work at the Nike site are expected at a future park board meeting this spring when commissioners consider awarding the contract. The district anticipates applying grant dollars from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program toward the work.

Stampede staffers are among two Pacemaker finalists from Illinois and 40 across the nation vying for the award, which recognizes high-quality student journalism and storytelling.
This is the sixth time student journalists at Metea have been named finalists for the Pacemaker since the school opened in 2009.
Congressional Art Competition accepting submissions
High school students looking to showcase their artistic talents now have an opportunity to do so through Illinois’ Congressional Art Competition.
Applications are now being accepted in several congressional districts, including those that cover Naperville.
The submission deadline for students in the 6th District of Illinois is April 16, while the deadline for those in the 11th District is April 17. Students are asked to enter the competition in the district where they reside, not where they attend school. Those interested in applying can find their congressional district by home address on the U.S. House of Representatives website.
Winners from participating congressional districts will have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol for one year.
